Zachary Ziliak is a former financial engineer and trader who now heads a law firm that focuses on the needs of investment advisers and other companies in the trading industry. Prior to law school, Zach pursued a doctorate in mathematics at Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar, leaving at the ABD phase to work as a quant at UBS. After completing an MBA from the University of Chicago with a concentration in Finance, Zach joined Matlock Capital as head trader, designing and implementing an automated option trading system. From there, Zach moved on to a J.D. from Loyola University Chicago’s School of Law, graduating summa cum laude and first in his class. After graduation, he clerked for a judge on the D.C. Circuit and spent six years in Mayer Brown’s litigation team before launching Ziliak Law, LLC in May 2013. Building off of operational experience in the trading industry shared by few other practicing attorneys, Zach now assists trading firms and financial technology companies with transactions, regulatory filings, and litigation.
